Top Holiday Resorts for an Evening of Entertainment

By Steve Alexander

Alanya and Marmaris have quickly become popular with British tourists. These places not only boast fantastic weather, but are on par with some of the best nightlife scenes in Europe. And whether you're into clubbing or dining out, there is something to suit every traveller.

Partying is the main focus of Alanya's after-hours scene and will usually go on until early in the morning. There's plenty to choose from, depending on your mood, but because of its size, there's something to please everyone including Turkish music, pop, disco, salsa, dance and rock.

The harbour is the focal point of nightlife here, with many of the more popular clubs looking out over the sea. Home to many bars, restaurants and clubs, the so-called Harbour Mile is a great location to start. You'll find live music here, including traditional Turkish and local bands.

The most expensive place to eat is the harbour. Eating here will probably cost almost double the price of restaurants just a few hundred yards away, however you can't put a price on the beautiful setting coupled with fresh sea air and food.

Even Sunday and Monday are party days during the holiday season. The James Dean Nightclub is one place you'll keep hearing about when in Alanya. With many different offerings, including ten bars, four dance-floors, and music suiting most tastes, this is what the UK would call a super-club.

Another excellent resort is Marmaris, known for its gorgeous coastline, exquisite landscapes, remote bays, convivial beaches, and ancient cities. It's no wonder that half a million people flock there during peak season. In terms of nightlife, there's plenty to choose from, including many bars and clubs, catering to a variety of musical tastes. Many testify that the quality of the clubs in Marmaris is similar to that of Ibiza. So if you're into wild nights on the tiles, the appropriately named Bar Street is the place to be.
