It is essential for them to bear in mind that a few firearm accessories differ from ammunition including CZ scope rings. Based on the federal law, the regulations on the transfer and acquisition of gun ammunition should be taken seriously. Any form of ammunition should not be granted to alcohol users, convicted felons, illegal aliens, those accused of domestic violence charges and habitual drug users.

The sale of handgun ammunition to individuals under 21 and long gun ammunition to individuals under 18 are not allowed by the Federal law. These broad regulations are imposed by the Federal law. However, the sale for ammunition is regulated on state level too. Firearm accessories such as ammunition definitely vary from state to state.

States have very different regulations when it comes to the sale and possession of ammunition similar to gun laws. For example, a permit to purchase any kind of ammunition is needed in both Illinois and Massachusetts. Permits are not needed in the majority of the state to buy firearms. However, the two mentioned states need a permit before allowing individuals to buy ammunition.

At present, twelve states do not permit armor-piercing ammunition. Tennessee, Mississippi, New York, New Hampshire, Indiana, California, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, New Jersey and Connecticut restrict the possession, transfer or sales of armor-piercing ammunition.

The basis for the restriction will be the state law most especially on the matter of a magazine's size. Restrictions on a magazine's size are practiced in places including Maryland, New Jersey, California, Hawaii and Massachusetts. Each magazine can only contain ten to 15 bullets. States are imposing regulations on the caliber size, the magazine size or quantity of ammunition. The broad framework established by the states are adhered to when acquiring firearms.

A number of firearm components are divided by the federal law including, assault rifle extras, silencers, scopes and laser guides.
