One way of reducing cases of injury in this sport is passing laws that require wrestlers to put a protective gear before stepping in the ring. The protective gears may include masks and hand gloves. The masks must have an inner layer of sponges or cushions for protection against the impact of blows. It also reduces chances of wrestlers sustaining basilar skull fracture.

It allows partnership between wrestlers in certain categories.
